Projects > PCB Grinder Symmetrical FET Compressor
Perhaps a more novice-friendly 1176-style build than others, PCB Grinder’s Symmetrical FET is an adaptation of the Urei 1178 stereo FET compressor. The circuit has a topology similar to the 1176 Rev G in its placement of the FET stage and use of an NE5532 balanced input stage, however it departs in its use of ICs for the pre and line-amp stages, allowing for a lower-noise, cleaner sound than what is characterized by other variants of the 1176. Additionally, the layout has been re-arranged to enable easier building and troubleshooting.
