The 9407k preamp is a combination of tube and solid-state circuitry. A NE5532 opamp drives two 12AX7 gain stages, which are fed low plate voltages (“starved plate”) to exaggerate their inherent non-linearity. The amount of tube saturation may be adjusted by a “blend” knob which blends between the pre- and post-tube stage signal.
- “Starved plate” circuitry
- Uses two Sovtek 12AX7 tubes
- Adjustable “Tube Drive”
- Includes wall-mount power supply

Adjusted Cost: $96.54/channel (two channels)
PAiA gives a $12 discount for two kits, making the price $152.62. Adding the 9407C rack case at $40.46 makes the total $193.08, or $96.54/channel.
