The HPDI is a version of Hamptone’s FET-based microphone preamps adapted for a DI-level signal. It is designed to run on either phantom power or a DC wallwart. A finished DI fits in a stomp-box-sized chassis.

Hamptone DIY DI

Notable Features:

  • Runs on phantom power of DC wall wart (included in kit)
  • Inputs and Outputs:
    • 1/4″ input
    • 1/4″ parallel output
    • 1/4″ buffered output
    • XLR transformer-balanced output
  • Pad, phase and ground lift controls
  • Based on the HJFP2 mic preamp
  • Kit includes mechanical templates for housing the project in a Hammond 1590B case
