The Auratone 5C “Sound Cubes” are small, single-driver speakers that have a unique legacy among studio monitors. Group-DIY member DaveP has created a DIY approximation of these now-defunct little legends. DaveP’s design uses an inexpensive, Chinese-made driver which is shielded like those used in the originals and has a similar frequency response. There are no products for sale for this project and it is meant only for non-commercial, home DIY.

Notable Features:

• Mimics the driver characteristics and internal volume of the originals
• DaveP’s version uses the L69A driver from Maplin
• Very approximate frequency response of 100Hz to 10kHz

Price: About $25 USD for drivers, other parts will vary in price
